Psilocin, the physiologically active form of psilocybin, differs from DMT only in having a hydroxyl group in the indole ring. It is this miniscule pharmacological difference which makes it possible to enjoy the benefits of DMT orally by taking psilocybin mushrooms. (187)

Dr. Stanislov Grof reported that LSD subjects had reported contacts or encounters with UFOs in his book Realms of the Human Unconscious. (188) Grof, himself, an experienced psychonaut claims that: “Conventional approaches to this area are characterized by thinking in terms of a simplistic dichotomy: real material events involving extraterrestrial spacecraft and alien visitors from another part of the physical universe versus hallucinations of the psychotic person.” (189)

Another experienced psychonaut, Terence McKenna states: “At active levels, psilocybin induces visionary ideation of spacecraft, alien creatures, and alien information. There is a general futuristic, science fiction quality to the psilocybin experience that seems to originate from the same place as the modern myth of the UFO.”

And McKenna is also quoted as saying: “Psychedelic drugs are as important to the study of UFOs as the telescope was to the redefining of astronomy. You can meet the alien.” (190)

McKenna was no propagandist, he was being sincere. McKenna was saying something akin to “the mushroom is the only alien humans have dealt with,” and he did not believe in beings from Zeta Reticuli visiting earth. Mckenna stated precisely: “… and this very small family of compounds called the tryptamine hallucinogens bear careful examination if we are seriously interested in this question of extraterrestrial penetration of the human world. On two grounds immediately the mushroom bears looking at. First argument, entirely a physical argument, psilocybin is 4-phosphoryloxy-n n-dimethyltryptamine. What this means is that there is a phosphorus group substituted at the 4 position of the molecule. This is the only 4 phosphorylated indole on this planet. Now, if you were searching for extraterrestrial thumbprints on the biology of earth, you would look for molecules that are unique, that don’t have near relatives spread through other life forms. In psilocybin we have this.”

The debate of the past was whether or not aliens are working with the government or not. The debate of the future will be whether or not the psychedelic experience when dealing with entities, is accessing a world outside of us physically or inside of us mentally. Hancock is leaning toward the conclusion that the experience is happening inside our minds. I am of the opinion, it is both happening inside us and outside us, based on how much we believe the delusion and buy into it and create it as a reality. The mind is very powerful and can make all kinds of things occur in the physical world. What if the psychedelic trip is the fuel and the UFO acts as a type of throttle? The UFO appears to be a real phenomenon and the psychedelic experience appears to allow us access to that world in particular ways. It seems there are still some answers to be sought out.

German Hegelian Theory and Skull & Bones

Evan Galbraith’s connection to Skull and Bones along with William F. Buckley’s (National Review) were both mentioned earlier, and in regards to Wasson, we read about Henry Luce and Time Magazine. The Skull and Bones connections to Germany are mostly through ideology and education. Wilhelm Wundt (University of Leipzig, 1875-1920) was a German physician and psychologist who could be considered the father of modern psychology. According to Sutton: ”Wundt was undoubtedly a major influence on G. Stanley Hall. Modern education practice stems from Hegelian social theory combined with the experimental psychology of Wilhelm Wudnt. Whereas Karl Marx and von Bismark applied Hegelian theory to the political field, it was Wilhelm Wundt, influenced by Johann Herbart, who applied Hegel to education, which in turn was picked up by Hall and John Dewey and modern educational theorists in the US.” (191)

    G. Stanley Hall was the first of Wilhelm Wundt’s students, spending six years in Germany studying under him and established the first experimental psychology laboratory for education in the US with funds from Daniel Coit Gilman, and later started the Journal of Psychology. (192) Gilman himself was a member of Skull and Bones, (Ini. 1852) and became President of Johns Hopkins University. (193) Students of Wundt and Hall established 117 psychological laboratories up to the period of 1930. Among these students were John Dewey, J. M. Cattell and E.L. Thorndike, all involved in founding the Columbia Teachers College and Chicago School of Education. (194)
